Inter Close In On Chelsea Midfielder John Obi Mikel
Mourinho is keen to bring the Nigerian to the San Siro and the player’s agent has allegedly met with the Nerazzurri.
Jose Mourinho, now Inter coach, signed 22-year-old midfielder John Obi Mikel while at Chelsea in 2006. The Nigerian international was recently told he would have to wait until the end of the season before discussing a new deal with the Blues and he is now flirting with Nerazzurri, according to Sport Mediaset.
Mikel will be out of contract at Stamford Bridge in 2011 and it is suggested that his agent, John Shittu, has already reached an agreement with the Serie A giants.
There are still small details that need to be sorted out but the talented midfielder has reportedly been offered a five-year deal and is said to be eager to move to Italy’s fashion capital.
Inter will have to open talks with the London outfit and are expected to table a bid of €15 million to secure his services.
Chelsea and Inter completed one trade during the winter transfer window as Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma moved to England on loan until the end of the season.
